The first Rib ‘N Rock was the idea of then, First Vice President, Cynthia Hilling. The Chamber was seeking ways of assisting the Friends of Byers Field in funding the renovation of Byers Field. Thus the first Rib ‘N Rock was born! This band of Chamber Board members, and general membership put together a very successful Rib ‘Burn Off, with 8 Rib Vendors, and outstanding entertainment. The event was held at Byers Field, which is were the first two Rib Burn Offs took place. These events were so successful the Chamber was able to donate $10,000 to Friends of Byers Field. The third year the new turf was installed and the Chamber was unable to hold the Rib ‘N Rock at Byers Field, enter Parmatown Mall. Yes, the management of Parmatown Mall, Joe Carrino, offered the Chamber the Northwest corner of Ridgewood and Ames to the Chamber, where we have been located for the past 14 years.
